Background
I've named my massage business "Intuition Massage Therapy" because of a comment one of my instructors made about my intuitive skills. I've rented a room at a healing center in St. Paul, and prior to that, I was a massage therapist at a chiropractic clinic. I've operated my massage business in conjunction with my soapmaking business, Shawnee Soapmaker under one roof in Little Canada, MN. It was time to branch out. I found space in a professional office building in Stillwater, MN to be more accessible to my clients. (Shawnee Soapmaker is now exclusivley online.)
I am currently enrolled in a Clinical Aromatherapy Masters Program because I believe in the healing properties of essential oils. Once completed, I will join the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) as a clinical aromatherapist.
Practice Philosophy
I believe in the body's innate ability to heal itself. My goal to help you feel so good that you don't need me anymore!
Why I do what I do
I became interested in natural therapies when my husband hurt his back and suffered chronic pain. I knew from past experience with my chiropractor the benefits of of taking care of pain naturally. I became determined to help my husband. These techniques have eased his pain, and I believe they will help ease yours. No one has to be in pain when there is MFR (myofascial release).
At first, John Barnes was just a name in a handout to me in massage therapy school. When I had a major unwinding, and no one (not even my instructor) could explain what happened to me, I decided to find some answers. I attended my first MFR seminar when John came to Minneapolis the following spring (2008). I worked on my husband afterwards, and he did not need his pain pills that night. I was in awe, and I continue to be amazed at this work.
Now, when my husband gets crabby because he doesn't feel good, I get him on the table. It is more for me than it is for him.
A little bit about me
I consider myself a lifelong learner. I've taught English, abd Speech classes both on ground and online for local colleges. (My M.A. is in Technical Writing.) I've taught massage classes at the school I currently teach at. I take Continuing Education classes as much as I can for my massage/MFR career. I love being around people. My favorite hobby is napping, but I like to read and write. Oh, and I make natural soap too. :) There is always something new to learn.
